Another step closer…

Attestation get! Motivation up! BRB, HQing more Haubergeons!

And my very first WotG NM. Saw it wandering unclaimed while searching for the Indescript Markings for my SCH AF quest. Quite easy to solo as PLD/WHM. Used Chivalry once for MP, wore my shield skill equip. No drop (some katana worth 100,000g) and only got 42 limit points from it.

There’s a bee that follows it around closely as it moves, that bee cons too weak and you could probably just ignore it, but I chose to kill it first while the NM continues to hit me while unclaimed. I tried to pull the bee first but it linked with the NM. Don’t know if it was sight/sound link or just links anyway.

Ok, so we all know how irritating it is when someone puts /say or /em into their frequently mashed macros right? I had a good laugh when this happened.

Finally got the new GP furniture item for cooking. Helped me free up a lot of mog safe slots as I can now put up my Windurstian flag for more wind strength without overwriting the moghancement:cooking effect.

When I first saw the title, I wondered what kind of restaurant should it be? Then considering the only foodstuffs I craft and sell nowadays for cooking are pasta foods, without hesitation, I decided it would be a pasta restaurant. Haha

Until next time, see you again!

Vana Update: Proto-Omega!

My social, I repeat, _social_ linkshell, attempted our second proto-omega fight. The first one was rather disastrous with bodies falling everywhere but we won anyways with 17 people (including friends not in the LS), with less than 3 minutes left on the clock. This first one was back in September 2006. Time flies…

This second run, with only 11 members, went a lot smoother and faster.

PT 1: PLD/NIN PLD/NIN RDM BRD WHM SAM
PT 2: BLM BLM BLM MNK COR

I think we took about 20 minutes, had 3 deaths. 1 from the SAM who got hate around the middle of the fight, 2 from Tuufless, 1st one I believe is from the Gunpods, perhaps it triple-attacked? And 1 from taking hate from nuking during Omega’s last form.

I requested for 2x March, and coupled with haste, I believe it can be solo-tanked easily by an average PLD/NIN. But a second tank is required for those hate reset TP abilities from omega.

Lots of paralyze procs from Trebla’s paralyze II, made it possible to just use utsu:ichi alone, lol

Drops were body, legs, feet. Body went to Myoha, legs to Crixis and feet to Tottie.

Now for the obligatory dance break. D:

Now the minor stuff.

Our salvage runs have been going fine. I won lot on 2 LV15 pieces for Ares’ hands and feet. There’s only 1 competitor for Ares, lol

I’ve begun participating in dynamis again. Had Sollanon introduce me into Zorinsoul. This time, it’s a sleep-friendly time schedule, haha. My previous LS, ExplorerII, had runs in 12am and 4am. My new one now has runs once a week, starting at 6.30pm. It’s a pretty comfortable schedule for me.

And on my first run, happens to be Xarcabard and they were going for Shadow Lord. D:

I was sooo unprepared for it.

I even lost TP before the fight because I switched grips forgetting that it resets TP. So I just equipped haste gear, ate sushi and because we had a BRD giving us Soul Voice marches, I just went Last Resort + Souleater + Blood weapon and let myself swing away.

Aegis update:

5% complete!

For crafting, my smithing mule is just 0.2 away from finishing. Alchemy mule has reached 100. Suprisingly, or perhaps I just had very good luck, alchemy is cheap to bring it to 100. It had 800k originally and now it’s down to 100k. But I did some T3 synths along the way to cover the costs. It also has the 2 +1 equipment and +1 furniture. The whole process probably took about 6 months?

Ending this post with just another screenshot that shows the importance of HP merits! lol

Vana Report: merits capped!

Merits

Participated in a lot of campaign battles. I have slightly more than 200,000 Allied Notes, lol

Capped merits and EXP buffer for my DRK and PLD. I might consider downgrading my 8 levels of Great Sword skill and put merits into Sword skill. But that’s only when I get my lolAegis done (if I ever get it done).

Finally, no more campaign battles for me and I can fully concentrate on levelling my SCH.

lolAegis

Couldn’t find the motivation to go into hardcore crafting mode to fund that relic shield. For now I’m just working towards getting the last 4 levels of smithing and last 5 of alchemy on my mules before I start earning gil for dynamis currency.

ToAU Missions

Also finished Treasures of Aht Uhrgan mission story. I’m no longer crazy over Aphmau now. Instead, Razfahd’s my new idol because of this one line he said: “I am resolved to be remembered as the villian in this chapter of history.”

The setup was BLM, BLM, MNK, RDM, BRD, PLD/WAR. I was given 2 ballads and refresh and told to constantly spam flash and voke from a distance while the BLMs and MNK slowly deal damage to the final boss. It was a very very long fight. BRD and RDM are dual-boxed and we went in mostly expecting to wipe. Our first run was supposed to be a practice run but we won on one try, haha.

I even forgot to bring all of my PLD equipment and wasted 2 slots.

Overall, I enjoyed the story very much. The cutscenes were great and some were so funny my friends and I watched it again at the event NPC.

PLD,DRK Gear

Trying to setup a static Nyzul assault party once a week with friends so I can work towards getting a few Askar pieces for my DRK and PLD. I want the body and legs piece for DRK and hands and feet piece for PLD. I’d love to have the whole set just so I can cosplay as Razfahd (oops, spoiler?), haha!

Previously, I went and redeemed the full Amir set, bought a Great Club from the AH, and together with my Tatami Shield, I dressed up like Mihli Aliapoh and stood next to her while AFKing until besiege starts.

My social LS just began organizing weekly Salvage runs and I only have one competitor for the Ares parts. Finally there’s hope in getting better gear, but funding the creation of these gears is going to be another major headache. :/

Sky (I know, lol) and /nin tanking

The best PLD, V, in my Sky LS has left FFXI for real life endeavors along with a few other members. Currently, I’m the only person capable of PLD/NIN tanking.

So with only 9% in haste gear but with a BRD and WHM for support, I tried tanking Suzaku and it turned out to be fine. I was surprised that I was able to hold hate for a large portion of the fight. And there was a period during that battle where I tanked using only Utsusemi:Ichi, lol, thanks to March x2, Haste, random stuns from the BLMs and my capped parrying skill.

This fun experience has given me more confidence at /nin tanking to the point that I went and borrowed Ancient Beastcoins from a friend to go redeem a Loquacious earring (yay fast cast!) and also gathered some HP- gear for my a hate generating trick which V taught me before he left.

Cast Cure3 on myself, macro in HP- gear, switch to HP+ gear with macros again before Cure3 finishes casting for some extra hate. V could create a gap big enough for Cure4, but I could only create a gap of around 120HP. Need to work on this area.

Summary

After 4 years, FFXI still remains fun for me.

Though occasional drama happens, I’ve become numb about it and can just move on easily now. Valkurm-like PTs continue to fascinate me instead of irritate.

This year, I look forward to tanking more stuff on PLD/NIN!

5 golden rules for MMORPGs

… to make your gameplay more enjoyable!

1) It’s ok to fool around as long as you don’t irritate/inconvenience other players.

2) Never buy game currency with real life money. It’s a vicious cycle where everyone gets screwed in the end with the China people laughing at us.

3) Have patience, lots of it. And I really do mean lots!

4) Don’t put in too much feelings, especially feelings of love and hate. It’s an online game for everyone to have fun, not a match-making service!

5) Never give out your account information.

Welcome to Final Fantasy XI!

Now I can kite better!

After playing PLD for a while, I’ve decided to move on and try other things. I’ve finally tried a bit of shadow tanking on Suzaku and Seiryu and I guess it went well.

Of course it went well. Because most of the time, the hate went to the other 2 tanks, lol. I was too anxious I didn’t hit my equip switch macros. My attention was totally focused on timing my utsusemi casting and curing myself. >_<

Then to make kiting easier, I’ve also decided to go for the crimson cuisses that give +12% movement speed. After like 4 or 5 kirins, it finally dropped for me.

Ignore the Osode, I was just temporarily holding onto it.

At first, I passed on these so others could make better use of it. It doesn’t
matter if I get it or not because no matter who gets it, the LS grows stronger.

And just for trivia, this cursed cuisses -1 was entirely funded from about a month or two of selling Fish Mithkabobs! Haha!
