Lotsa accomplishments

Accomplished quite a lot over the weekend. Feels like I’m being compensated for all the wasted time waiting in Jeuno for a party invite. Here’s a quick summary…

Well, first, I got my cooking skill to 60! Now working on guild points to get Raw Fish Handling key item so I can craft sushi.

I was fortunate enough to get invites from the same people. I think I performed well enough during my first exp sessions for them to remember my name. ^^
I dealt 700-1000 damage just with Souleater+Guillotine. About 400-500 with Guillotine alone. All Trick Attacked onto my tank.

Just when I was 97 exp left to hit level 66, and we were fighting the last Processionaire for my level up, a Water Elemental spawned on top of my mages!
White mage finished casting Escape and everyone warped out safely. But then our tank, also our leader, got disconnected and never came back for 5 minutes.
Since 3 other members had to go in 20 minutes I felt it was best we disband. Suggested this in party chat to which everyone agreed.

On the other hand, Evasama had rounded up a few people for a skill up party at the same area where I was, so I joined them.
Heh, my wish of levelling up in a skill up PT is fulfilled!

Now that I’ve hit level 66, the cap on my Great Sword skill is raised. I can proceed past the 224 mark to hit 225, just nice for Spinning Slash weaponskill.
I heard it does up to 1500 damage and ends with a Light (level 3 skillchain) for another 1500 damage.

Later that day, while heading back to Windurst to check my stats from the Event Moogle, a linkshell member Trebla called out for me that there’s a Windurst Mission 8-1 shout going on in Jeuno.
We both got into the party which consists of mostly Galkas. A few of the Galkas needed to do this mission and most of their Galka Linkshell members had come to help us out. It was fun playing with them.

After we finished M8-1 and are on our way back to Windurst, I asked the leader when will he be doing M8-2, last mission for Rank 9. A discussion began and we decided to do it since one of the members had her White Mage up to level 60 and could Teleport-Vahzl us. We had to go Fei’Yin as part of the mission.

Back in my Lineage2 Japan Open Beta days, we had farming sessions together. About 10+ of us, 1-2 Americans, 1-2 Singaporeans, the rest Japanese players. At the end of the session, when everyone bids each other farewell, there’s always
this sad feeling like we’ll never see one another again. I felt this again when saying goodbyes to the other players that we did this Rank 9 missions with. It was a fun filled 5 hour run with funny conversations along the way ( T-T). Bah, forgot to take a screenshot of everyone together.

Chef’s Hat

In order to get this hat, you need to trade in items specified by a representative from the Cooking Guild. The required items change everyday, 11pm Singapore time.

The last item I needed to get 70,000 guild points to redeem the hat was a Icecap Rolanberry. One of it’s ingredients, Crawler Egg, is low in supply but I managed to buy all 10 from the Jeuno Auction House.

So out of 10 crafts, I got a HQ (Snowy Rolanberry) and a break. But finally, I now have enough guild points to redeem my Chef’s Hat.

Behold!

Zenryoku Zenkai

Spent a few minutes making a banner image for the site. By the way, for web developers, never name your flash files, images banner.swf or banner.jpg as Norton AntiSpam automatically blocks these flash/images from showing up on your browser.

I’m not sure if I interpreted the kanji characters correctly. Tuufless/Glueforever, if you see this, send a /tell! ^^

{Sky}

Completed the neccessary Zilart missions to gain access to Tu’Lia regions. The scenery is wonderful. Got invited into Glueforever’s HNMLS (Hyper Notorious Monster LinkShell).

There’s nothing much I can do with even helping out with farming for the drops that are used to spawn the Gods.

Glueforever asked if there was someone who could assist him with making a website for his HNMLS, I hesitate to volunteer at first because my project at work is moving forwards and my client is quite satisfied with what I’ve done. Boss says 90% chance of sealing this deal.

Back home, all the time I have left are spent enjoying Final Fantasy XI and some anime.

But Evasama {/point}ed me so Glueforever asked me directly and it’s kinda hard to reject especially when I’m quite tempted to work on his project myself. Also because there’s lots of ideas for his website, running through my head (this has known to keep me from falling asleep at times when I should be falling asleep. >_< ).

Self-Discipline is also another problem I’m still working on.

Anyways, it’s been an exciting night. What’s left for me is to level up, and getting an invite is by far the hardest part of this MMORPG.

The struggle continues

Alright, I finally took the time to get Thief (THF) to level 37. It’s
quite easy playing thief actually. Well, as long as my macros don’t get stuck.

There are quite a lot of occasions where Trick Attack did not activate
causing me to hold hate.

The Sneak Attack and Trick Attack abilities of the THF are very useful in
hate control. They can deal impressive amounts of damage and then place all
the hate on another player (preferably the tank).

Sneak Attack makes your next hit a critical one with added bonus damage based
on your DEX. But this only works when you attack the enemy’s behind.

Trick Attack puts all the hate you generate from your next attack/weaponskill
onto the player between you and the monster.

Activate them both at the same and fire off your weaponskill (Viper Bite
is a good one) onto back of the monster with another player in between, you deal
300-500 damage and successfully tricked the monster into thinking that poor
player was the one who did all that damage.

In my last EXP PT as a THF, my little Tarutaru White Mage (WHM) decided
to meelee all of a sudden and so by accident, we Sneak Attack/Trick
Attack (SATA) on him thrice. There were 2 THFs in our party. The first time
he died, but for the next 2 accidents, he survived because the tank managed to
pull back hate.

So I now have 2 suitable jobs which are at least level
37 to sub for DRK till 75. I have 2 Sniper Rings and adequate Accuracy to
be able to use Great Sword in an EXP PT, I discovered Bream Sushi is a lot
cheaper and gives +16% Accuracy Bonus over Sole Sushi and that extra 1% gives a
noticeable improvement. Just that Sole Sushi gives Strength bonus which would
help in STR-based weaponskills like Guillotine and Sickle Moon.

Last Friday as I did my usual shopping at Orchard’s Kinokuniya, I found some
FFXI related books. One’s a concept art book and the other’s like a strategy
guide encyclopedia
[amazon.co.jp]. Without hesitation, I grabbed them.
The maps on the encyclopedia are very well detailed. The maze-like Yuhtunga and
Yhoator Jungle won’t be a problem now. There’s also a long list of food and
their various effects.

Though I agree all this information is readily and easily accessible on the
internet, this book is published by Square-Enix so I trust that all information
there are accurate. Of course, I do note the unsatisfied customer
reviews regarding some mistakes at the Amazon link I posted above.
