a new shelf

Over the last weekend, after attending an in-game FFXI wedding, I logged off and went to prepare for the installation of a new shelf at where my main computer is. It requires drilling so there was a lot of cleaning up to do after everything was finished.

Now I don’t have to worry about mangas falling on me when I enter/leave my room.

Photo train!

First, seize this chance to vaccuum all the dust inside.

Harddisk cage.
The 3rd and 4th from the top are my beloved WD Raptors 36GB 10,000RPMs running in RAID 0.

Dirty.

<3 this case.

My second computer. A Shuttle XPC ST20G5.
This blog is running on this PC. I watch/download anime with this PC too.
I also have a TV Tuner card installed to watch TV or game on my PlayStation.

APC Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS). So much dust…

The new shelf!

Messy desktop. Left LCD is the web server, right LCD is the one I play FFXI on.

Both computers have been running 24/7 for more than a year. I pay 100% of the utilities expenses(SGD$100~$120) for my family by the way.

Yes… I’m a geek… But I’m enjoying it!

The Cathay

Went to watch Pirates of the Carribean 2 (Dead man’s chest) at The Cathay yesterday.

Booked myself a good seat through their website earlier that day. Tickets cost $8 and booking fee costs only 50cents. The booking fee for Golden Village is $1, tickets also at $8.

The place is still new and a lot of shops aren’t opened for business yet. I was hoping there’d be a fastfood restaurant like Mos Burger, McDonald’s, Burger King so I can smuggle in a burger for dinner.

Movie starts at 7pm. I leave work at 6pm. Travelling there takes 30 minutes which leaves me insufficient time for dinner. [:(]

Sadly, there’s no fastfood restaurants so I had to buy the expensive meals from the movie theatre’s stalls.

Fucking $7.40 for a medium cup of iced lemon tea ($2.90) and a bacon cheese hotdog ($4.50) that’s only about 6 inches long. This is why I always avoid these overpriced stalls. The reason people still buy from these stalls is because the food they sell are the only ones you are allowed to bring in. You can’t bring in food from other stalls but I have a bag big enough to hide 8 burgers and no one bothers to see what you’re eating when the show starts.

And I also regret buying that drink.

Because near the end of the movie, I gave up enduring the urgent tide and left for the restroom. I missed the important last scene in the movie… orz

Oh well. At least I managed to get details of that scene from a friend who’s already watched it.

6th floor of The Cathay.
Light from the setting sun was reflected off one of the buildings and it was beautiful.
That’s SMU on the left.

it’s decided!

After spending time thinking, eating, sleeping, gaming, working and thinking again, I’ve decided to go sign up for Japanese lessons! Course starts Jan 2007 and registration begins Dec 2006. I’ll be going for the "intensive" course which just means 2 lessons per week, whereas the regular course is 1 per week.

This means less time for FFXI!

I should be able to catch up. I already know a bit of Japanese from watching animes and Japanese dramas and I also have a strong interest in learning it. From past experiences, having interest in the subject makes learning a lot faster, easier.

Less time for FFXI!

I had a social gathering last night with a few friends from secondary school. We had dinner at Pizza Hut. It’s been a long time since I had a social gathering with friends, I somehow felt refreshed today at work. We’ve scheduled another meet up something during September. Alcohol will be involved, but I don’t think I want to get myself drunk.

Less FFXI!

Ok! Back to work!

the few things I hate about buses

WARNING! RANT ENTRY.

Singapore has good public transport system. We have many buses that can bring you to many places. A very intricate network of bus routes.

It’s also cheap compared to most other countries. (Not forgetting we are also paid less than most other countries.)

I’ve been taking bus 166 to work everyday for the past 2.5 years. It takes about 50 minutes to get to work from home and 60 minutes from work to home. Each travel costs $1.23 so I spend $2.46 everyday just on public transport.

What pisses me off is that somehow, those people managing the schedules find it extremely funny to send a single-deck bus instead of double-deckers during morning peak hours making it crowded and sometimes, I have to stand for 40 fucking minutes until a lot of people alight at the office areas.

And then the seats are so worn and uncomfortable that my ass hurts after sitting for 50 fucking minutes. Also, the space we have are tight.

Some of the buses are also so poorly maintained that the roof leaks during rain!

Honestly, what pissed me so much to make this entry is something that happened yesterday in a crowded single-decker, on my way home:

SOME FUCKTARD FARTED.

AND IT STINKS SO MUCH THE SMELL LINGERS ON FOR 10 FUCKING MINUTES.

AND HE FUCKING DID IT TWICE.

fucking bastard…

may cactuar send 1000 shiny needles up your ass.

Had a break

I usually blog at work. So when there wasn’t a single entry last week, it means I’m on leave! [:D]

Spent most of the time on FFXI though but that’s not all!

On 2 nights I went cycling at midnight, first night left me so exhausted and nauseus I had to lie down on the road for a while. I think I lacked water. So before I started on the second night, I drank lots and overall it was better. I even had a heavy dinner about 4 hours before that.

Tried excercising a little to help fix the backaches I’ve been having from sitting in front of the computer for long hours both at work and at home. Feels a little better only. I need to do more of these.

And the best thing is getting drunk at a colleague’s wedding dinner. It’s not like I felt depressed or something, I just drank because it’s free. lol. I had 5 glasses of beer and I started to feel woozy and out of control. It felt good drunk but it didn’t feel good the next day. orz

I felt like vomitting and at the same time I felt very hungry. Had lots of water and ate a little only. I don’t think I want to get drunk again. ( >_<)

Now to clear the 600 spam mails accumulated over the week. orz
