Another rant about time

Here I am again complaining about insufficient time. Unlike racing games in the arcade, I do not get any Time Extensions for completing a project nor can I afford to extend time by inserting another token because time is expensive money!

The Saturday and Sunday I had was rough. My webserver keeps freezing and I attribute this to the failing 3.2GB drive. I have converted my mirror raid to stripe just to be safe, and was able to back up my data before it died. And I gave up another day of gaming to clean up my room. Feels good to throw away 3 bags of old toys and other garbage. I need to make more room faster than I can fill them up with manga.

My account on Japan’s Lineage 2 got banned. Most probably because I supplied a fake address. A Japanese online friend is willing to help me talk to the GMs (GameMaster) and see if she could get it unbanned. Yes! SHE! I have heard of girls playing games but knowing a Japanese female who plays MMORPGs well kind of surprises this old-fashioned me. Oh well, pray I get unbanned so I can donate my US$50 worth of equipment to her guild. I would feel much better if all my effort goes to the benefit of someone rather than getting deleted in cyberspace. Her guild had been very hospitable to me and I feel they deserve it.

I went down to SimLim Square last Friday to check on the ThermalTake Tsunami casing that I’ve been yearning for. It turned out to be only 75% of what I imagined it to be. The mirror finish wasn’t exactly that “mirror”. The small picture shown on that site looked smooth and like mirror only because it was a small photo. The silver stripe in front was kind of shaky, but I think I can make it firm with some blutack. The front panel requires some force to open. Probably because the stuff was brand new and it’ll get easier as time passes. Best of all, the price is only $238, not $285. Might buy it soon. My first step towards a more powerful and good looking computer. [XD]

Collaborative Blogging

I’m done with the design of my new personal project. Might need a few more adjustments but the general layout has been decided. I’ve also planned to sign up with a webhost for this. They have 500MB of space and unlimited bandwidth. The only downside is their bandwidth speeds are low and the directory name icons/ seems to be reserved. Right now I’m on their 30days trial so it’s not too late to pull out. I need to rush up a working site so the webhost can be tested.

Comparing this webhost with the one my company works with, the number one thing I like with my new webhost is the version of their PHP and MySQL is not too old. The control panels provided by both are easy to use.

You can preview the site at http://got.wyred.nu/ .

The ThermalTake Tsunami PC Chassis (mentioned a few entries ago) that I’ve been waiting like a fool for, have finally arrived at SimLim Square. Retail Price starts from $285!! [:(] I must have a look at it in person today.

Time to work overtime

Found out the first project that I worked on when I joined my company last year is going to go live this Saturday. So right now I’m rushing to convert the whole ASP site to a PHP one. It’s one hell of a challenge and worst still, my SQL statements have sub-queries in them! At the moment, my webhost’s MySQL is of an old version that does not support the wonderful sub-queries yet. [X(]

I’m going to be rather busy converting and might need to pull in one or two extra hours in the office…

Getting more and more addicted to the songs in Kotoko’s ç¾½ (Hane) album the same way I fell for Maaya Sakamoto’s Birds. [X)] The majority of Kotoko’s song’s music carry a rather sad tune. Her voice and singing style makes them even sadder. And it just so happens that I’m in the mood for sad songs.

I’ve – Kotoko

I have noticed this name and it confuses me till today. I got confused when cos I don’t know if it’s a songname or the name of the singer/band. And when someone mentioned I’ve’s Kotoko, I got even more confused.

And now, after a bit of googling, we have this informative link. Be sure to set page encoding to Japanese and check out the Information link on the left.
